I will plant bamboos around the house, Appa says.
Appa's mornings are now contained in
Lazy strolls into the garden,
Gulping the news three-four times before breakfast,
Sipping chai and reading the same gulped news on newspaper.
He's jealous of mom as she's always occupied in the kitchen.
He's now okay with less salt and undercooked rice.
He notices my three year old blue t-shirt and
Asks if bought it new.
He peeks in intently as me and mom play ludo and rummy.
He asks us to join for the evening chai.
He desperately tries to initiate conversations.
He says he loves sunsets and chai with us.
He says,
When this is all over,
I will watch the dahlia flowers on the highway while listening to ilayaraja.
I am sure,
He will fix that broken pipe and
Will plant bamboos,
When this is all over.
