When I knew that I had cracked the interview having my internship call offer, I became tensed. It was because, I had to go to a new city, speak in a new language with different people, and above all, I was just for myself.
I rethought the idea of taking up this great opportunity. But then, its a great opportunity. I can't afford to miss it.
I had to make up my mind convincing myself that," Hey!You are going to be alright! It's a new experience. You will get to know a new city, new language, new friends and a new cuisine too! Not everybody will get such a chance. And you know, living in a new city, all alone, can be life changing! Please be bold dear.Let's do this!"
Constantly thinking this-so-called-encouraging-words, had helped me deal better. As days came nearer, I was quite prepared, I packed my bags and everything. I am ready!
"Yes!I am going to Kochi! I am going to live there, for 2 months, and give my best at my internship!"
Kochi, is a beautiful city located in "God's own country", Kerala, India. It is located on the windward side of the Western Ghats and on the coastline of Arabian sea. During the period of colonial rule in India, Kochi became one of the major sea ports in India, and was ruled by the Portuguese, Dutches, British,etc..
Given, its long history, Anybody could imagine its rich scenic beauty, heritage and aecthetics. Adding upon to its feather in the cap, it was the month of june- The times of the Southwest monsoons,"Edavappathy".
Travelling to Kochi was so far, one of the best decisions I took. It was raining throughout my journey to Kochi representing the soothing experiences, I was about to deal with. People here, are very warm and welcoming. I was amused on seeing the beautiful houses with lots of trees. It was full of life.
People here, are comparitively environment friendly, and abide the laws and rules much better than any other place, I have visited or knew about, in India.Kochi, of all the things I knew about before I came here, was known to be a safe place for women, children.
I was amazed on having these experiences, experience on my own.It gives me a tinge of "Living close to nature, and also in a major urban centre" feels. I have earned a very placental connection with this place. And working for the bettermnet and development of this place, has increased my love for this city.
Having been in this city, full of life, for about a month now, I could say that, I have grown as a better person. I learnt not to feel insecure on being or travelling alone. I have learnt that being close to nature is very important, to realise self-worth, detox and lead a peaceful life.
I feel so much independent than ever before and feel so grown, matured. Exploring this city is being so close to exploring myself. Optimism has become the key to my everyday and a happy aura is always around me these days.
I am very grateful to myself for choosing whatever I had to and letting positive changes mould me better. I am cherishing each and every moment here. I wish everybody gets such a great opportunity to realise self-worth and gain positivity.
Let my happy aura influence yours and lit your life! 😊
Regards,
Srinidhi Hariharan.
