Reading "Prithiviraj Chauhan"
I started reading this book about "Prithviraj Chauhan" out of immense interest on history and love for epic love stories, wars and kingship. It was a lot of learning about this great Maharaj in the history of Indian rulers. His life had been very confined to palaces, battle fields and harems. He was portrayed as a person who seeked peace despite he conquered places, fought great battles.
As far as his love life is depicted, I wasn't much impressed with the story. It might be because, Prithviraj Chauhan was a king firstly, and every aspect of his life had revolved around this fact. The book depicts Princess Samyukta and Yogita as two entirely different characters unlike many other historians. At the end of the day, it's the story that matters.
The book is apt for people who would love history, battles, invasions and empires. But not for those expecting a great love story like Dushyant-Shakuntala or Laila-Majnu.
Have a good read folks :)
