I will wake up earlier

To light the kerosene stove 

In the pitch dark 

That looks like our lives.

Maybe the next time

I will not let your finger bleed

To your chopping the vegetables

In all the bottled up

Emotions bursting inside you.

Maybe the next time

I will dust the racks

Of your good old times

In which there's no fog

That hides the gleam in your eyes.

Maybe that day

I will walk straight in bleeding blood,

Of pride in my genes

In getting a bit of you in me.

Maybe the next time,

Another little girl will look at me

With gleaming eyes

In awe and wonder,

Just like how I look at you.
